Holy Cross Church stands as a conservative and traditional Anglican presence in Lake County, Illinois. Our theology is in line with that of the Anglican Communion, world-wide, and our worship follows the liturgy produced by the liturgical commission of the Church Of England as Common Worship; a set of liturgical options for members of the Anglican Communion. Our liturgy is Anglo-catholic and our music draws from the best of traditional hymnody as well as contemporary compositions.
The Rev. John Ellison, Jr. was named the rector-elect of the new church planting and finished the tasks of organizing Holy Cross as a religious corporation in the state of Illinois. Father Ellison resigned at the end of August.
The Rev. Richard A. Crist was called by the vestry to serve as the interim rector while the process of reception into the diocese of Quincy and the search for a new rector are completed. Fr. Crist served as the chaplain of the Holy Cross chapel which formerly served the congregation of the present Holy Cross Church before its formation as a new church plant on January 30, 2011. The Church is affiliated with the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). Holy Cross Church was received into the Diocese of Quincy on October 14, 2011.
